Keep customers informed with thoughtful auto replies
Use acknowledgements, closure notices, employee-away messages, and retired-address routing to set clear expectations.

Choose the notice that fits the situation
Paid NuvoMail plans include four types of automatic replies. Keep the message short and explain what the customer can expect next.
- New conversation: acknowledge an eligible new conversation.
- Business closed: explain a holiday, closure, or time outside office hours.
- Employee away: let customers know about a planned absence.
- Address retired: explain a team change and route future incoming mail to a shared inbox.
Set dates and office hours clearly
Open Settings → Auto replies and choose Add auto reply. Select the applicable address and set dates, a timezone, and office hours where needed. Employee-away rules apply to personal addresses you are permitted to manage.
Preview the wording or use Send test to me before saving an enabled rule. Mention a useful next step, such as when the team expects to respond.
Send one useful notice
When several rules apply, NuvoMail chooses one in this order: retired address, employee away, business closed, then acknowledgement.
Acknowledgements apply once per conversation. Other notices repeat at most once per sender and address every seven days. Auto replies use your Resend account and sending allowance, and do not resolve tickets or count as a human response.
Keep mail moving when an employee leaves
On a paid plan, retire the personal address and choose an active shared inbox. The original address stays reserved, stops sending, and remains visible as the destination on routed messages.
Remove the employee from Members separately to end workspace access. Existing retired-address routing continues after a switch to Free, while automatic replies pause. Saved replies also pause when sending is restricted.
